Majid Sadeghi

Majid Sadeghi is a Lecturer at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (2019–present), a Research Affiliate at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Department of Geography (2015–present), and an Environmental Engineer at LA Sanitation & Environment (2002–present). He holds a B.S. in Chemistry (UCSB, 1985), M.S. in Environmental Engineering (USC, 1987), Engineer Degree in Civil Engineering (USC, 1989), and a Ph.D. in Geography (UCSB, 2015).

His research focuses on civil and environmental engineering, particularly hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, stormwater control measures (SCMs), and sustainable infrastructure. He has developed a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINP) method to optimize SCM selection for urban stormwater management, balancing cost, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact. He has authored 37 peer-reviewed articles, holds patents in the U.S., Canada, and internationally, and contributed to projects addressing water quality, wastewater systems, and environmental compliance.

His work integrates regulatory negotiations, engineering design, and environmental impact assessments, with a focus on reducing pollutants, augmenting water supply, and advancing green infrastructure. He has led projects in civil engineering design, stormwater pollution prevention plans, and environmental impact statements.
