Majid Basharat

Dr. Majid Basharat is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICIQ) within Prof. Katherine Villa's research group. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Chemistry from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China (2020), followed by postdoctoral research at the Institute for Advanced Study, Shenzhen University (2020–2022). His expertise spans colloidal synthesis, micromachine design (active matter), fluorescence microscopy, and computer simulation. Key research areas include polymer- and metal-based colloids, heteroatom-doped carbon materials, and their optical/photocatalytic properties. He has published 6 first-author papers in journals such as Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry C, and Materials Chemistry Frontiers.

Research Focus: Dr. Basharat investigates colloidal particles (Janus, patchy, hybrid materials), band-gap engineering, photocatalytic activities, and material characterization via optical/confocal microscopy, particle-resolved fluorescence, and optical tweezers. His work addresses crystallization, self-assembly, and photonic properties of nanostructured materials.

As part of Prof. Villa's group, he contributes to interdisciplinary projects at ICIQ's Scientific Core Facilities, leveraging advanced instrumentation for materials innovation. His research aligns with broader goals in sustainable catalysis and renewable energy technologies.
