Prof. Dr. Mahmut SARIKAYA is a full-time Associate Professor at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Science and Letters, Ahi Evran University. He has held academic positions at this institution since 2006, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. Previously, he served at Gazi University and Erciyes University. His academic foundation includes a PhD (1993-1998) and Master's degree (1990-1992) in Turkish Language and Literature from Erciyes University's Institute of Social Sciences, and a Bachelor's degree (1986-1990) from the same university's Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
His research specializes in Old Turkish Language (Orkhon, Uyghur, Karakhanid) and New Turkish Language (Old Anatolian, Ottoman, Türkiye Turkish), with interdisciplinary focus on dialectology, cultural linguistics, and historical Turkic philology. Key themes include language-culture interfaces, morphological evolution, and cross-dialectal comparisons across Anatolian and Azeri variants.
With 43 publications spanning journals, books, and conferences, his recent work (2017-present) emphasizes cultural lexicology, folkloric linguistics, and comparative analyses of Turkic languages. Earlier publications focused on grammatical structures and sociolinguistic phenomena in historical contexts.
