Dr. Mahmoud Moradi is Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Northampton, where he serves as Programme Leader for the MSc Advanced Design & Manufacturing. He leads the Additive Manufacturing Research Group within the Centre for Advanced and Smart Technologies, contributing significantly to advanced manufacturing research and education.
His research focuses on laser materials processing, additive manufacturing, 3D/4D printing, welding technology, and non-traditional machining. He applies Design of Experiments (DOE) and response surface methodology to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance material performance. His work bridges theoretical modeling with experimental validation in advanced materials.
Recent publications highlight trends in multi-material additive manufacturing, laser micro-drilling, functionally graded materials, and sustainable repair of 3D-printed parts. His research integrates numerical modeling, microstructural analysis, and statistical optimization across diverse materials like PLA, copper composites, and high-performance alloys.
