Mahir Gökbudak is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld, affiliated with the 'Didactics of Social Sciences' working group. His primary role involves higher education teaching and research in social science pedagogy. Prior to this, he served as a school head (Dept. 9&10) at Martin-Niemöller Comprehensive School (2013–2016), led the Social Sciences seminar at Bielefeld’s Centre for Practical Teacher Training (2011–2013), and taught at Peter-August-Böckstiegel Comprehensive School (2007–2013). He is an author for Cornelsen Verlag’s German textbook Doppel-Klick since 2010.
His research focuses on social science education in secondary schools, including a country-by-country analysis (SoWiDaS project) and a subproject on politics education in North Rhine-Westphalia (PAS-NW) in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Reinhold Hedtke. His work emphasizes curriculum design, comparative educational frameworks, and teacher training in sociopolitical contexts.
