Professor Maheshi Danthurebandara holds a dual PhD in Engineering Science and Applied Economics from KU Leuven and University of Hasselt, Belgium. Currently serving as Professor at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, she also maintains affiliations with Constructor University (Germany). Her research focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Circular Economy, and Sustainable Development with applications in energy systems and waste valorization.

Research Interests: Professor Danthurebandara specializes in integrating environmental, social, and financial dimensions of sustainability. Her work examines multi-region economic systems, carbon footprint analysis, and innovative waste management technologies. She has pioneered studies on landfill mining feasibility and energy generation mixes in developing nations. Notable Contributions: Her 2019 study on Sri Lanka’s electricity generation mixes won the President’s Awards for Scientific Research. She is a certified LCA practitioner skilled in SimaPro software, with over 15 years of experience in academia and industry consulting.
