Magnus Skjegstad is a Research Fellow in the Networks and Distributed Systems group at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with the Department of Informatics under the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. His research focuses on low-level networking, distributed systems, operating systems, and functional programming. Previously, he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge's NetOS group and co-founded Unikernel Systems. He has industry experience as a Principal Engineer at Tarides (serving as VP of Engineering) and Docker, where he contributed to Docker Desktop. Skjegstad is a core maintainer of MirageOS and IncludeOS, open-source unikernel operating systems.
Research Interests
His work spans systems programming, networking innovations, and type-safe systems development. He explores scalable distributed systems architectures and secure low-level system design.
