Magnus Larsson serves as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at Lund University, specializing in leadership dynamics and organizational interaction. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis of communication practices in business contexts.
His research traverses Leadership, Interaction, Organizations, Conversation Analysis, Identity, Expectations, Assumption, and Attention. Larsson investigates how leadership materializes through embodied communication, examining micro-level interactional patterns where identity construction and attention allocation shape organizational outcomes. He employs ethnographic and conversation analytic methodologies to dissect leadership moments, revealing how assumptions and expectations govern collaborative work.
Recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a cohesive trajectory exploring leadership communication through materiality, embodiment, and aesthetics. His work develops innovative methodological approaches for capturing leadership in action while analyzing interactional challenges in mobilizing commitment to future-oriented tasks. These studies consistently emphasize conversation as the foundational site where leadership emerges through sequential, context-dependent practices.
Larsson actively supervises PhD candidates including Kalyan Pasumarthy. As Principal Investigator for the active "Biomaterials@LU" project and contributor to the completed "Roadmap of Biomaterials 4.0" initiative, he bridges organizational theory with interdisciplinary research. His editorial role at the Journal of Management Development further extends his influence in the field.
He co-organized the "Future Biomaterials: Data-Driven Insight to Cell-Biomaterial Interaction" conference (May 2024-31), demonstrating engagement with cross-disciplinary scientific networks while maintaining focus on interactional dynamics within research collaboration.
