Dr. Magdalena Sawa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English Literature and Culture, Institute of Literary Studies, within the Faculty of Humanities at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland. Her research spans modern British fiction, narrative theory, interart relations (literature and visual arts), affect studies, and post-postmodernism.
- Education:
- Graduated from John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (2001)
- PhD in 2008 (Dissertation: "Pro-narrative Ekphrasis in Modern British Novel")
Her research focus lies in the intersection of affect theory and metamodernism, particularly in Gabriel Josipovici's works, analyzing themes like corporality, discourse critique, and Shakespearean intertextuality. She also explores ekphrasis, feminist reinterpretation of biblical narratives, and postcolonial intertextuality.
The articles she has published emphasize metamodern affect, intermediality, and postmodern narrative through studies of authors like T.S. Eliot, V.S. Naipaul, and Julian Barnes. Her work frequently bridges philosophical concepts (e.g., Bruno Latour, Brian Massumi) with literary analysis.
