Her research focuses on literature’s philosophical dimensions, aesthetics, and 19th- and 20th-century literatures—particularly Romantic and Modernist periods. Key themes include ethics in literature, ordinary language philosophy, gender studies, and interdisciplinary approaches to art and film. Her publications analyze authors like Emily Dickinson, Jane Austen, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and William Wordsworth, exploring topics such as creative solitude, narrative interiority, and the everyday in literature.
Though no formal awards are noted, her work has been featured in prestigious venues like Cambridge Studies in Literature and Philosophy, nonsite.org, and the MLA’s Teaching World Literature. She teaches courses that challenge disciplinary boundaries and emphasizes critical thinking about art’s role in society. Her teaching philosophy prioritizes interdisciplinary exploration and has spanned over 20 years across multiple institutions.
Outside academia, Ostas enjoys gardening and cinema, reflecting her belief that art and literature extend beyond academic confines to engage everyday life.
