Magdalena Nigoević

Magdalena Nigoević is a Full Professor at the Department of Italian Language and Literature, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split. She has been affiliated with the institution since 2001 and specializes in contemporary Italian language, textual linguistics, media language, and Italian-Croatian contrastive studies.

• Masters in 2005
• PhD in 2010

Her research focuses on sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse studies, and contact linguistics. She has contributed to interdisciplinary projects like translating Ivo Brešan's play 'Hamlet in Mrduša Donja' into the Istro-Romanian dialect and collaborated with institutions in Croatia and Italy.

• Member of HDPL Supervisory Board (2022-present)
• Appointed to the Matični odbor (National Council for Higher Education, Science, and Technological Development) in 2024
• Chair of Sectoral Council XXV. Philology at AZVO (Agency for Science and Higher Education) since 2024

She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Italian language, communication theories, and final thesis seminars. Her career includes collaborations with the University of Mostar and the Art Academy in Split.
