Magdalena Kończak

Dr. Magdalena Kończak is a Lecturer in the Department of Hydrology and Climatology at the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. Her research focuses on environmental remediation technologies, particularly the application of biochar and carbon-based adsorbents for soil and water treatment.

Dr. Kończak's primary research interests include the use of carbon adsorbents in soil remediation and water treatment, management of organic waste materials (particularly sewage sludge and biogas residues), fate of pollutants in the environment, nanomaterials' environmental impact, and hydrochemical methods for water quality assessment. Her work bridges environmental chemistry, soil science, and waste management technologies.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on biochar applications for environmental remediation, particularly examining how different production methods affect biochar's ability to remove contaminants from soil and water. Her research demonstrates how modifying pyrolysis conditions and feedstock composition can optimize biochar properties for specific environmental applications, with particular attention to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals, and nutrient management.
