Magalie Alcindor

Dr. Magalie Alcindor is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing department at York College, CUNY. She holds a PhD in Nursing Education from Capella University, an MS in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Lehman College, and a BS in Nursing from SUNY Health Science Center. Her research focuses on the educational experiences of foreign-born nursing students, particularly Haitian immigrants, and cultural competency in healthcare.

Research Interests: Dr. Alcindor explores the transformational challenges faced by non-US-born nursing students in adapting to U.S. academic environments, with a focus on cultural awareness and systemic barriers. Her work intersects pediatric nursing, healthcare equity, and evidence-based practices. She has developed innovative teaching strategies like the Blueprint Puzzle Tournament to enhance student learning.

Community & Leadership: She contributes to the Haitian American Alliance Professional Committee, serves in her local church’s committees, and advocates for healthcare equity through organizations like the New York State Nurses Association.
