Magali Rouquier

Magali Rouquier is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès, affiliated with the Patrimoine, Littérature, Histoire (PLH) research unit. She holds an HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches), the highest French academic qualification that enables her to supervise doctoral research.

Her research focuses on French syntax, particularly specialized grammatical constructions including cleft constructions, pseudo-cleft constructions, and linked constructions. She has conducted extensive diachronic analysis of French syntax, examining historical texts such as the Passion de Clermont and the Vie de Saint Alexis to trace syntactic evolution from Old French to Modern French. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with historical language analysis, providing insights into how syntactic structures emerge and evolve over time.

Rouquier's publications reveal a consistent focus on the structural properties of French syntax, with particular attention to how information is structured within sentences.
