Maegan Fairchild is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Michigan specializing in metaphysics, philosophical logic, and epistemology. Her research explores radically inclusive ontological theories that posit vastly more entities than ordinarily recognized.
She develops 'maximally permissive' approaches to ontology, examining how extreme revisionary theories can provide insights into material object metaphysics, vagueness, and theory choice. Her work addresses fundamental questions about what exists and how we reason about metaphysical possibilities.
Dr. Fairchild received the Harrington Faculty Research Fellowship and teaches courses in metaphysics, logic, and philosophical methodology. She holds a PhD from the University of Southern California and a BA from UNC Chapel Hill.
