Mads Nielsen is a Professor at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Computer Science (DIKU), affiliated with the Pioneer AI (P1AI) section and the Machine Learning research group. His work spans theoretical and applied machine learning, with applications in natural language processing, medical data analysis, remote sensing, sustainability, and computational biology.
His research group actively participates in the SCIENCE AI Centre and TreeSense, focusing on remote sensing and deep learning for global tree resources. DIKU provides access to a powerful compute cluster, enabling advanced research in these domains.
The Machine Learning Section, where he is a member, emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and addresses challenges in information retrieval, biological data modeling, and climate-related sustainability through AI-driven solutions.
