Madiha Tabassum is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Simmons University with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Usable Security & Privacy. Prior to joining Simmons, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute at Northeastern University. Her academic journey began with a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Her research spans three core projects: (1) Community Custodians examining online moderation dynamics to combat hate speech; (2) Cryptography for Social Good developing interdisciplinary collaboration tools; and (3) Inclusive Design for Neurodivergent Users addressing security/privacy needs through neurodiversity theory. Publications in top venues like USENIX Security, SOUPS, CHI, and IMWUT reveal expertise in smart home privacy, voice assistant risks, and policy communication.
