Madeleine Lyngmo Johansen is an Externally financed Research Fellow at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the School of Health Sciences and Department of Health and exercise. She is a member of the research group PULL and currently pursuing her PhD while working as a licensed physiotherapist.
Her educational background includes:
- Master’s degree in (re)habilitation from Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet)
Her research specializes in women’s health and migration health, with primary focus on chronic pelvic pain interventions among Somali migrant populations in Norway. She investigates how pain education, physical activity protocols, and pelvic floor muscle training impact quality of life and health literacy outcomes. Her clinical background in rehabilitation and habilitation informs her translational approach to women's health issues, particularly regarding provoked vestibulodynia and sexual function assessment.
Funded as an externally financed PhD fellow, her doctoral project addresses critical gaps in culturally competent care for migrant women experiencing chronic pelvic pain. Her work bridges clinical physiotherapy practice with public health research in migration contexts.
