Madeleine Flaucher is a Researcher and PhD Candidate at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering, affiliated with the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Lab. She holds an M.Sc. in Medical Engineering (FAU) and a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering (OTH Regensburg). Her research focuses on digital health applications, wearable technology for medical monitoring, and user-centered design in healthcare.
Key projects include developing smartphone-based prenatal care tools, evaluating mobile health (mHealth) applications for breast cancer and heart failure management, and exploring HCI principles in conscious AI systems. She has co-authored over 15 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Digital Health, IEEE Access, and npj Digital Medicine, with a focus on wearable sensors, symptom tracking, and patient engagement strategies.
Madeleine supervises Master’s and Bachelor’s theses on topics ranging from opioid management apps in palliative care to VR visualization of brain data. She also teaches Human-Computer Interaction and collaborates on projects like the SMART Start initiative and digiOnko platform. Her work bridges interdisciplinary perspectives to empower patients through personalized health data engagement.
