معرفی
Dr. Madalina BARSAN serves as a Scientific Researcher I at the Laboratory of Functional Nanostructures within Romania's National Institute of Materials Physics (NIMP). Her research focuses on developing innovative electrochemical biosensors using nanostructured materials for medical diagnostics and cellular monitoring applications. With numerous publications in high-impact journals including Talanta, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, and Analyst, she has established herself as an expert in electrochemical detection methods.
Her research interests center on biosensor development for medical diagnostics, particularly in the areas of superoxide monitoring, proteasome activity analysis, and anticancer drug detection. Dr. BARSAN specializes in creating nanostructured biosensors using electrospun fibers, gold nanoparticles, and enzyme-based detection systems that can monitor cellular processes in real-time. Her work bridges materials science, electrochemistry, and biomedical applications, with particular relevance to cancer research and neurodegenerative disease diagnostics.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on developing practical biosensing platforms for clinical applications, with increasing emphasis on in vivo and real-time monitoring capabilities. Her research demonstrates consistent innovation in sensor architecture, including disposable biosensors, cell-integrated monitoring systems, and dual-strategy detection approaches that improve sensitivity and specificity for medical diagnostics.
Dr. BARSAN leads research projects including 'Disposable nanostructured biosensors based on metallic electrospun fibers for real time monitoring of superoxide in cell cultures' (TE project, 2020-2022). Her collaborative work spans multiple institutions, with frequent co-authorship with researchers from various Romanian institutes and international partners. She has developed several novel biosensor platforms that show promise for commercial medical diagnostic applications, particularly in cancer drug screening and oxidative stress monitoring.
Her laboratory work involves the Laboratory of Functional Nanostructures at NIMP, where she develops and characterizes novel biosensor architectures using electrochemical techniques, electron microscopy, and surface analysis methods. Current research directions include improving the stability and sensitivity of biosensors for long-term cellular monitoring and developing multiplexed detection systems for simultaneous analysis of multiple biomarkers in complex biological samples.
