Mack Mariani is a Professor of Political Science at Xavier University, where he has taught American politics for 15 years. A first-generation college graduate from Canisius College (BA) and Syracuse University (MA, PhD), Mariani bridges classroom learning with real-world political experience. He previously worked for a Western New York House of Representatives member and spent a decade as a speechwriter and press/legislative aide in Rochester, New York.
Mariani directs the Gene Beaupre State Politics Internship Program, placing 8–10 students annually in state government internships (Ohio or Washington, D.C.) and strengthening Xavier’s alumni network. His courses feature hands-on elements like campaign simulations (speechwriting, press releases) and undergraduate research projects analyzing historical political representation trends, such as Cincinnati city council demographics since 1925 or Ohio legislative redistricting impacts post-1960s civil rights rulings.
