Dr. Maaike van Putten is an Associate Professor in the DMD Genetic Therapy Group at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). She specializes in experimental animal models to study muscle function, pathology, and behavior, with a focus on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
Her research spans genetic therapy, neuromuscular disorders, and translational neuroscience, leveraging mouse models and iPSC technology to investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. She has published 38 articles, with key contributions to DMD pathophysiology, antisense treatments, and circadian rhythm impacts on health.
