Maï LE DÛ is a Lecturer in midwifery at the Faculty of Midwifery, University of Brest, where she also serves as Vice-director of research and Co-referent for DFGSMa3 (3rd year). Her academic work spans midwifery, obstetrics, sociology, anthropology, and pediatrics, with a focus on the cultural and historical dimensions of care practices.
Her research explores the anthropology of care through interdisciplinary lenses, examining gender dynamics in healthcare, historical shifts in medical interventions, and the sociological implications of traditional healing practices. Key themes include touch ethics in infant care, midwifery professional identity, and the intersection of medical sociology with obstetric practices across historical periods.
Analysis of her 2016-2024 publications reveals consistent investigation into care ethics and medical anthropology, particularly regarding infant treatment evolution and gender disorientation in clinical settings. Her work demonstrates methodological diversity through historical analysis, ethnographic studies of caregiver dynamics, and critical examinations of medical tool adoption versus traditional hands-on approaches in childbirth.
