Mehmet Ali Göngen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Communication. He has held this position since 2024 and previously served as Deputy Head of the Department. His academic foundation includes dual doctorates: one in Journalism from Istanbul University (2012-2016) and another in International Relations from Akdeniz University (2013-2021). He also holds a Master's in European Studies and a Bachelor's in Journalism.
Research Focus: His work intersects media ethics, political communication, and human rights, with emphasis on hate speech, freedom of expression, and media's role in societal conflicts. Key themes include Middle Eastern geopolitics, migration narratives, and digital media literacy, reflecting a commitment to critical journalism studies and policy-relevant analysis.
Publication Trends: Recent articles and books demonstrate a shift toward contemporary issues like Generation Z communication, disinformation, and political correctness. His scholarship consistently addresses Turkey's socio-political landscape within global contexts, blending media theory with empirical case studies.
