MAURO MATO GOMEZ

Dr. Mauro Mato Gómez is a Ramón y Cajal Researcher affiliated with the University of Santiago de Compostela, working within the Department of Organic Chemistry and the Research Center in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CIQUS). He leads the SupraNanoBioMol research group and collaborates with the Biological and Supramolecular Chemistry (BCS) group.

• PhD in Organic Chemistry (2021) from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, supervised by Dr. Antonio M. Echavarren Pablos

His research focuses on metal carbenes, photocatalysis, and supramolecular chemistry, with groundbreaking work in bismuthinidene photocatalysis and gold/rhodium carbene transformations. He has developed methodologies for red-light-activated cross-coupling reactions, bioorthogonal synthesis, and shape-shifting molecular systems.

Recent publications highlight his leadership in visible-light photoredox systems, radical chemistry, and organobismuth catalysis. His work bridges synthetic organic chemistry with biomaterials applications, particularly in radical generation/trapping and dynamic molecular architectures.
