MARTINEZ ROMERO, DOMINGO JESUS

Domingo Jesus Martinez Romero serves as a Professor in the Department of Agro-Food Technology at Miguel Hernández University of Elche, based at the Orihuela campus. He is an active member of the Postharvest of Fruits and Vegetables research group and affiliated with the University Institute for Agro-food and Agro-environmental Research and Innovation (IUIA), operating from Carretera de Beniel, km 3.2, 03312 ORIHUELA (Alicante).

His research focuses on postharvest physiology of fruits and vegetables, innovative food packaging technologies, and thermal processing of vegetable products. His work bridges plant science with industrial food applications, particularly in developing preservation methods for canned goods and fresh-cut produce. Current projects emphasize sustainable packaging solutions to extend shelf life while maintaining nutritional quality.

Prof. Martinez Romero coordinates and lectures core courses including Canned Vegetables and Juices and Fruit and Vegetable Technology for the Bachelor's in Food Science and Technology, and Development of New Packaging Technologies for the Master's in Agro-Food Technology and Quality. He maintains regular tutorial hours (Thursdays 11:00–14:00, Tuesdays 15:00–17:00) from office D10 and participates in doctoral training for the Agricultural, Agro-Environmental and Food Resources and Technologies program.
