MARTIN BARCALA FURELOS is an Assistant Professor in the Applied Didactics Department at the Faculty of Education Sciences, part of the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE). He holds a Doctorate from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, where his thesis focused on Influence of chest resistance on the quality of resuscitation (2022). His research group, MEFeS (Motricity, Physical Education and Health), explores interdisciplinary topics in education and healthcare.
Research interests include physical education methodology, motor skill development in children, cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, and factors influencing youth physical activity. He has conducted studies on emergency response protocols, sports performance metrics, and inclusive education strategies for students with disabilities. Recent work addresses social influences on adolescent exercise habits and biomechanical analyses in professional athletes.
Publications emphasize practical applications across health sciences, sports science, and education policy. Notable themes include nighttime resuscitation feasibility, workload management in athletes, and the efficacy of physical education interventions in primary/secondary education systems.
Currently serves as a core member of the MEFeS research group, contributing to both academic discourse and applied training programs in physical education and emergency response methodologies.
