MARIO PEREZ-SAYANS GARCIA

Mario Perez-Sayans Garcia is a Professor of Stomatology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Department of Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialties. He leads the ORALRES research group at IDIS and serves as the sole Stomatology Principal Investigator at iMATUS Institute. His work bridges clinical research, biomaterials, and technological innovation in oral health.

His research focuses on oral cancer diagnostics, dental implant success factors, biomaterials for bone regeneration, and medical applications of photobiomodulation. His work has influenced clinical protocols and international collaborations.

Scientific awards include Spain’s National End-of-Career Prize, USC Extraordinary Licentiate Award, and 11 competitive grants (MINECO, José Castillejo, IACOBUS, Erasmus+). He has edited journals like Medicina (IF: 2.6) and reviewed for over 30 indexed journals.

As academic secretary of USC’s Stomatology Area and former coordinator for 5 years, he has shaped curriculum and research initiatives. His clinical work involves over 1500 annual patients with oral pathologies and leadership in the Advanced Implantology Chair.
