Her research centers on Postcolonial Studies, especially Caribbean and Afro-British literature, with strong interdisciplinary links to Memory Studies, trauma, and contemporary narrative. She has explored themes such as diaspora, exile, humanitarian narratives, and the spatial dimensions of memory in literature. Her recent work investigates how narrative constructs memory in post-conflict societies and urban landscapes.
The 15 most recent publications reflect a consistent engagement with postcolonial trauma, memorialization, and identity, particularly through the works of writers like Fred D'Aguiar, Jamaica Kincaid, and Caryl Phillips. Her scholarship bridges literary analysis with historical and cultural inquiry, focusing on marginalized voices and the ethics of representation.
She has participated in multiple public research projects, such as Research in Transhistorical Literary Studies in English (RTLSE) and Women and Public Space in Women’s Literature (1800–1980). Though no formal scientific awards are listed, her sustained research output and editorial presence in journals like Journal of Postcolonial Writing and English Studies highlight her academic impact.
López Ropero has directed three doctoral theses, two of which are recent, including a 2024 Cum Laude dissertation on female friendship in diaspora fiction. She actively mentors graduate students and contributes to academic service through departmental leadership. She is a member of the research group The English Language and its Literatures (TELL), which supports her collaborative and interdisciplinary work.
She has presented her research at major international conferences, including the Memory Studies Association and EACLALS, demonstrating her engagement with global academic communities. Her work continues to evolve toward the intersections of narrative, space, and cultural memory.
