MARIA GOMEZ BRANDON

Maria Gomez Brandon is a full-time Professor at the Faculty of Biology, University of Vigo, specializing in the Department of Ecology and Animal Biology. She is affiliated with the Centro de Investigación Mariña (CIMAR) and the GEA Ecoloxía Animal research group.

• Education: PhD in Ecology (University of Vigo, 2010) with thesis on earthworm impacts on microbial communities during organic matter decomposition, supervised by Dr. Jorge Domínguez Martín and Dr. Marta Lores.

Research Interests:
Her work focuses on ecosystem processes, particularly earthworm-microbial interactions in soil decomposition, bridging soil ecology, invertebrate biology, and nutrient cycling. She investigates how soil fauna influence microbial communities and organic matter dynamics.
