María do Cebreiro Rábade Villar is a Professor of Literary Theory at the University of Santiago de Compostela's Faculty of Philology, affiliated with the Department of Spanish Language and Literature, Literary Theory and General Linguistics. Her research focuses on literary theory, poetry anthologies, and women's subjectivity in art, with a particular emphasis on Galician and Catalan cultural contexts.
She holds a PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2004) for her thesis analyzing poetic anthology theory. Her work bridges literary analysis with cultural studies, examining topics like historical memory, urban life, and existential themes. Notable publications include O Deserto (2015, awarded the Galician Poetry Critics Award) and A Lentitude (2017).
Her awards include the Caixanova Poetry Prize (2003), Ramón Piñeiro Essay Prize (2021), and Dámaso Alonso Research Prize (2002). She has coordinated significant anthologies such as Poetry is the Great Miracle of the World (2001) and Black Ladies (2002), translating and compiling works by women artists.
As a poet and essayist, her work spans over 25 years, exploring themes of identity, cultural memory, and societal critique through poetry and critical essays. She actively contributes to academic and artistic circles in Galicia, maintaining a dual role as researcher and educator.
