Prof. Mahmut Toprak is a full Professor of Chemistry at Bingöl University's Faculty of Science and Letters. He has held roles including Department of Chemistry Chair (2022-2024), BÜBAP Coordinator (2018-2024), and BÜSEM Deputy Director (2017-2020). His academic journey includes a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Atatürk University (2011), followed by research and teaching roles since 2005.
Research focuses on spectroscopic analysis of molecular interactions (e.g., dyes with biomolecules), adsorption science (pollutant removal using natural/modified materials), and fluorescent sensor development. Over 20 peer-reviewed articles and multiple grants highlight his contributions to environmental chemistry, analytical methods, and bio-inspired materials.
Advises graduate students in topics like adsorption mechanisms and spectral analysis. Actively reviews for journals including Spectrochimica Acta and Turkish Journal of Chemistry. Coordinates interdisciplinary projects on waste valorization and natural product applications.
Recent work emphasizes sustainable adsorbents from agricultural waste and selective ion sensors using phenolphthalein/rhodamine architectures, addressing real-world environmental challenges.
