Prof. M.H. Nauta is a Professor in Clinical Psychology (specializing in youth) at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. She chairs the Department of Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology and holds a clinical position at Accare, a mental health center for child and adolescent psychiatry. Her expertise spans anxiety disorders, OCD, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with a focus on youth and parents.
Education:
- Bachelor's and Master's in Clinical Psychology and Methodology at the University of Groningen.
- PhD (2005, with distinction) on anxiety disorders in youth, supervised by Paul Emmelkamp, Agnes Scholing, and Ruud Minderaa.
- Clinical training as a Health Care Psychologist and CBT specialization in youth mental health.
Research Interests: Nauta's work centers on anxiety and OCD in children/adolescents, cognitive behavioral interventions, and optimizing evidence-based treatments. She explores digital interventions, imagery rescripting, and personalized therapy through projects like StayFine (app-based relapse prevention) and Intensive Treatment Programs for persistent disorders.
Teaching: She teaches CBT principles, evidence-based mental health, and clinical applications across bachelor, master, and post-master programs. International collaborations include CBT training in Ukraine since 2010.
