Prof. Dr. M. Wollni is a Professor of Environmental and Resource Economics at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, Georg-August-University of Göttingen (since 2016). Previously, he held positions including Stand-in Professor of Development Economics (2013-2016) and Junior Professor of International Agricultural Economics (2009-2015) at the same institution. His academic journey includes postdoctoral research at Cornell University (USA), The Ohio State University (USA), and Wageningen University (Netherlands).
Education: PhD in Agricultural Sciences/Socio-economics of Rural Development (2006) from Georg-August-University, with visiting scholar periods at Cornell University. Holds a M.Sc. (Diplom) in Geography (2002).
Research focuses on environmental and resource economics, international agricultural economics, and rural development. Notable contributions include work on agribusiness systems, innovation in African food chains, and agroecosystems management.
Awards include the Josef G. Knoll European Science Award (2008), T.W. Schultz Award (2006), and Hans H. Ruthenberg Award (2002). Active in academic leadership as coordinator of the M.Sc. International Agribusiness program (2002-2006).
