M. Kathryn Brown is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at San Antonio and serves as the Graduate Advisor of Record for the MA Program. Her research focuses on Maya archaeology, particularly the transition from the Preclassic to Classic periods, ritual practices, lithic technology, and the application of LiDAR for settlement pattern analysis. She has secured multiple grants, including a 2021–2023 Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Award, and received the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award (2020) from the Archaeological Institute of America.
- Research Interests: Maya political authority, LiDAR applications, sulfur isotope mobility studies, ceramic economies, and neighborhood analysis.
- Key Projects: Mopan Valley Archaeological Project, Belize Valley Archaeology Project, and investigations at Xunantunich and Buenavista del Cayo.
