M. Kate Bundorf is the J. Alexander McMahon Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Management at Duke University and a Professor in the Sanford School of Public Policy and Population Health Sciences. She serves as Faculty Director of Research at the Sanford School and is a Core Faculty Member at the Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy.

Her research examines health policy, healthcare economics, and consumer decision-making in insurance markets. Key areas include Medicaid expansion, telehealth reimbursement, healthcare cost variability, and digital health tools. Recent work analyzes COVID-19 risk perceptions, Medicaid spending, and prescription cost-sharing for chronic conditions.
Scientific awards include the 13th Annual Health Care Research Award (2007) and a Fulbright Lecturer appointment at Fudan School of Public Health (2009-2010). She has secured major grants from the NIH, Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, focusing on prostate cancer outcomes, Medicare Advantage, and healthcare system transformation during the pandemic.
