M. Isabel Ayala

María Isabel Ayala is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Director of the Chicano/Latino Studies Program at Michigan State University (MSU). She holds a PhD and M.S. in Sociology from Texas A&M University (2007 and 2003, respectively). Her research focuses on Latinx intra-group diversity, racialization processes, and sociodemographic behaviors, emphasizing strength-based approaches to highlight resilience and agency in navigating systemic inequities.
