M. I. Yaras

M. I. Yaras is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa. He holds a B.Sc. from the Technical University of Istanbul, an M.Eng., and a Ph.D. from Carleton University. His research focuses on experimental and computational fluid dynamics with applications in aerospace, power generation, and biomedical engineering.

Research interests include shear layer instability, forced convection in supercritical fluids, turbulence modeling, and aerodynamic optimization of lift-generating surfaces and turbine blades. He has contributed to studies on blood flow dynamics in the aorta and the design of hydrokinetic turbines.

His publications span topics like turbulent boundary layer behavior, lobed mixer aerodynamics, and DNS analysis of supercritical fluids. He advises current students and offers research opportunities in fluid mechanics and related areas.
