M Carrie Miceli is a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics. She holds a Ph.D. in Immunology from Duke University Medical Center (1988), postdoctoral training in Immunology at Stanford University Medical Center (1993), and a BA in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UCSD (1983).
- Research Focus: Muscle Cell Biology, Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics; T Cell Signaling; Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) Therapies; Galectin-1 in Immune Regulation
- Funding: Multiple NIH grants as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator (1994–2026), including studies on exon skipping for DMD, TCR signaling, and immune modulation.
- Recent Publications: 15 most recent articles (2012–2022) span topics such as CRISPR-Cas9 deletion strategies for DMD, single-nucleus transcriptomics in muscle pathology, lipid raft dynamics in T cells, and immune-targeted therapies.
Collaborations: Frequent work with Stanley Nelson and others on DMD genetics and therapies. Key contributions to understanding galectin-1's role in T cell tolerance and Dlgh1's function in signal transduction.
