Mélanie JUCLA is a Lecturer in Language Sciences at Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès, affiliated with the NeuroPsychoLinguistics Laboratory (LNPL) and the interdisciplinary research unit OCTOGONE. She teaches psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and methodology in language sciences and speech therapy programs.
Her research centers on neurolinguistic and psycholinguistic aspects of language in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions. Key themes include language and memory interactions, speech disfluencies in Alzheimer’s and frontotemporal dementia, written language disorders in dyslexia, and procedural learning in developmental disorders. She employs experimental psycholinguistics, corpus analysis, and neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG) in her work.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on discourse analysis, cognitive-linguistic interactions in aging and neurodegeneration, and developmental language disorders. There is a clear trajectory toward understanding variability and specificity in language dysfunction across the lifespan.
- ANR FluD4 (2021–2025): Principal Investigator on fluency and disfluencies in neurodegenerative diseases with neurodevelopmental history.
- TellMA (2015–2018): PI on discourse in Alzheimer’s disease.
- Loquace & Neuroscribe: Earlier funded projects on language-memory interplay and written word production.
- Co-investigator in DYSTAC-MAP and EvoLex 2 projects.
She co-supervises PhD students and mentors Master’s students in language sciences, neuropsychology, and speech therapy. Her lab, LNPL, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with Inserm, CHU Toulouse, and other national research units.
