معرفی
Lysanne Snijders is an Assistant Professor in Behavioural Ecology at the Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences (WIAS PE&RC), part of Wageningen University & Research. Her work focuses on understanding animal behavior, social interactions, and their ecological implications, with a strong emphasis on conservation biology and wildlife management. She leads projects on bat migration strategies, waterbird responses to land use, and social dynamics in zebra finches.
Her research interests span behavioral ecology, animal communication, and the application of technology in wildlife studies. Notable contributions include studies on Glossophagine bats' vocalizations, Egyptian waterbird communities, and the impact of ephemeral resources on wild guppy social behavior. Snijders has received the prestigious Veni Award (2019) from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for her work on social strategies in animals.
Snijders collaborates internationally, with projects in Africa and Europe, addressing issues such as human-wildlife conflict mitigation and conservation strategies for endangered species. She actively advises PhD candidates on topics ranging from sea turtle hybridization to wildlife behavior in national parks.
Her publications explore behavioral correlates of migration, AI-driven evidence synthesis in conservation, and the role of animal social networks in ecological resilience. She has presented at numerous conferences and contributed to media discussions on animal behavior and conservation, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to ecological challenges.
