Lynne Layton is a psychoanalyst and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology (Part-time) at Harvard Medical School. She currently teaches and supervises at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Her work bridges psychoanalysis with postmodern gender theory, cultural studies, and interdisciplinary research. She explores how cultural contexts shape clinical practice and identity formation.
Her publications highlight intersections between psychoanalytic theory, literature, and social dynamics. She has contributed to critical discussions on narcissism, trauma, and politics in therapeutic settings.
She is a co-founder of the Boston Psychosocial Work Group and serves as co-editor of Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society and associate editor of Studies in Gender and Sexuality.
