Dr. Lynn Shaw serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Health Sciences and Human Services at Vancouver Island University while concurrently holding the position of Vice-President Academic at Pacific Coast University in Port Alberni, British Columbia's newest university. Her dual institutional roles reflect her significant contributions to academic leadership and occupational science.
Her research centers on occupational justice and work participation for persons with disabilities, with expertise in occupational transitions, return-to-work processes, and client-centered ergonomics. As an AUTO21 researcher, she investigates transportation safety for older adults, and her methodological strength lies in knowledge synthesis for clinical practice guidelines in Occupational Therapy and Chiropractic. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge rehabilitation science, public health, and social justice frameworks.
Dr. Shaw holds prominent leadership positions including President of the Canadian Society of Occupational Scientists, interprofessional member of the Canadian Chiropractic Clinical Guideline Development Team, and Research Advisor for the Canadian Injured Workers Alliance. She serves on the editorial board of the journal WORK as column editor for both "Knowledge Transfer: Making information work" and "Narratives on Work Transitions", demonstrating her commitment to knowledge mobilization across professional communities.
