Lynn Marcus is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Immigration Law Clinic (ILC) and Community Immigration Law Placement Clinic (CILPC) at the James E. Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona. She founded the ILC in 1996 and launched the CILPC in 2020, focusing on asylum law, representation for victims of crimes, and human trafficking. Her work includes trauma-informed legal training and advocacy for low-income asylum seekers.
Education: J.D., New York University School of Law (1989); B.A., Stanford University (1986). She has held leadership roles in legal aid organizations like the Southwest Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project and currently co-directs the Bacon Immigration Law and Policy Program.
Research interests center on asylum law, refugee protection, and legal education. Her documentary work and educational materials address modern challenges in immigration law, including the intersection of trauma and legal practice. Recent publications include Safe? (2023) and Trauma Informed Interviewing (2021).
Awards include the Catalina High School Hall of Fame (2021) and YWCA Women on the Move (2004). She advises the Immigration Law Students Association and volunteers with the Asylum Program of Arizona, a nonprofit supporting low-income asylum seekers.
Her career spans over three decades in immigration advocacy, including landmark cases such as Sinotes-Cruz v. Gonzales (2006) and presentations at institutions like the Tucson Great Decisions Association. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit, and Arizona federal and state courts.
