Dr. Lynn Kemp is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Western Sydney University and an honorary fellow at King's College London. Internationally recognized for developing the evidence-based MECSH program, her work serves over 15,000 vulnerable families across Australia, UK, USA, and South Korea through sustained nurse home-visiting interventions.
Her educational background includes nurse training at Lidcombe Hospital and a PhD(Health) from Western Sydney University. She commenced her academic career in 2002 with a focus on health equity during early childhood development.
Professor Kemp's research centers on translational methodologies for implementing population-scale health interventions, particularly in community child health and early childhood support systems. Her work bridges academic research and real-world application, exemplified by establishing South Korea's universal child health service for 10 million residents where none previously existed.
Her notable recognition includes:
- NSW Premier's Women of the Year finalist (2015)
- USA government approval for MECSH as an evidence-based intervention
She actively supervises doctoral candidates (graduating 11 PhD students in 5 years) and serves on the Good Beginnings Australia Programs Advisory Committee. Her research receives international implementation funding through government and health service partnerships enabling global program scaling.
