Dr. Lynn G Clark is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology at Iowa State University and Director of the Ada Hayden Herbarium. Her research focuses on bamboo systematics, grass family evolution, and functional ecology, with significant contributions to Neotropical bamboo diversity and fire-adapted plant strategies.
Education: PhD in Botany (Iowa State University, 1986), BS in Botany and Horticulture (Michigan State University, 1979).
Research interests include:
- Bamboo phylogeny and evolution
- Leaf anatomy and developmental morphology
- Ecological adaptations in grasses
- Floristic inventories in tropical regions
Recent work emphasizes genomic approaches to resolve phylogenetic uncertainties in Poaceae and integrates field data from Brazil, Ecuador, and Patagonia. Collaborative projects include studies on fire-vegetation interactions and biodiversity conservation.
Grants: Includes NSF-funded research on fire-vegetation relationships in tropical ecosystems.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Ada Hayden Herbarium and collaborates internationally on bamboo systematics projects.
