Lyndsey Stonebridge is an Honorary Professor at the University of East Anglia's School of History and Art History. She is affiliated with the Migration Research Network and has held roles such as Academic Lead for CHASE (2010–2013) and Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research (2008–2013). Her work bridges literature, history, and law, with a focus on human rights and refugee studies. She has collaborated internationally, serving as a Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney (2010) and a Visiting Fellow at Cornell University (1997–1998). She is a member of the Human Rights Consortium Executive Group and co-edits the Mid-Century Series for Oxford University Press. Her research explores statelessness, exile narratives, and the psychological impacts of displacement through literary and intellectual lenses.
Research interests include twentieth-century literature and history, the intersection of human rights with refugee studies, and the role of psychoanalysis in modern culture. Her recent projects examine how post-war writers engaged with legal and moral frameworks of justice, while her upcoming book, Placeless People: Rights, Writing and Refugees, traces the shift from exilic literature to statelessness discourse. She also investigates the cultural and political dimensions of Brexit in literary contexts.
Her grants and collaborations involve the Leverhulme Trust, British Academy, and Arts and Humanities Research Council, focusing on topics like refugee experiences, comparative literary studies, and the historical memory of displacement. She actively participates in interdisciplinary networks and public initiatives, such as the Humanities in Human Rights network and the Being Human Festival project on refugee history and culture.
