Lynda Diane Roman

Lynda Diane Roman, MD, is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Southern California (USC), serving as Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Co-director of the Lynne Cohen Preventive Cancer Care Clinic at the USC/Norris Cancer Center. She completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1991. Dr. Roman specializes in clinical trials, translational research, and the management of gynecologic malignancies, with a focus on cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. Her work emphasizes optimizing surgical techniques, adjuvant therapy strategies, and improving survival outcomes for patients through evidence-based approaches.

Her research spans topics such as sentinel lymph node biopsy utility, tumor staging, and de-escalation of therapy for low-risk cancers. She is also involved in advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques and addressing disparities in cancer care. Dr. Roman holds leadership roles in academic and clinical settings, including directing the USC Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program.

Dr. Roman’s clinical expertise includes complex surgeries like pelvic exenteration and cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta. She actively contributes to professional organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. Her work aims to bridge clinical practice with research to enhance patient care and outcomes in gynecologic oncology.
