معرفی
Lyn Kidson is a Researcher at the Australian Centre for Ancient Numismatic Studies (ACANS) within Macquarie University's School of Humanities. Her work focuses on intersections between ancient numismatics, New Testament studies, and early Christian history. She holds a Doctorate and has been affiliated with the university through a Professional Casual appointment.
Her research interests include biblical exegesis of Pauline epistles, analysis of early Christian material culture, and exploration of Jewish-Christian identity dynamics. Kidson has contributed to understanding Roman imperial propaganda through coin imagery and its New Testament contexts, as well as gender roles in early Christian communities.
Recent publications (2022–2024) demonstrate thematic consistency in analyzing textual and material evidence to reconstruct socio-religious contexts of early Christianity. Her work often bridges archaeological findings with literary analysis, particularly in Hellenistic and Roman-period settings.
- Recipient of the Macquarie-Gale Scholarship to the British School in Rome (2021)
- Active collaborator in international scholarly networks, evidenced by contributions to volumes published by Zondervan Academic and Mohr Siebeck
Her research frequently engages with questions of religious identity negotiation, ethical teachings in pastoral epistles, and material culture's role in religious expression. Kidson's interdisciplinary approach integrates textual criticism, numismatic analysis, and socio-historical contextualization.
