Associate Professor Lyn Ebert is a distinguished academic within the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University, based in Coffs Harbour. Holding a PhD and Master of Philosophy from the University of Newcastle, alongside advanced qualifications in Nursing and Vocational Education, she brings over 40 years of clinical experience as a nurse (since 1979) and midwife (since 1990) to her academic role.
Her research program centers on advancing woman-centered care across diverse midwifery contexts and developing innovative educational strategies for health professionals. Key focus areas include Midwifery relationships, Continuity of Care, Perinatal Mental Health, and Work Integrated Learning in clinical education. With over 30 peer-reviewed publications and $400,000+ in research funding, her work bridges theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in women's health.
Awarded the UON Vice Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence and a Faculty of Health and Medicine Teaching Award, she has taught nursing and midwifery across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Australia and China since 2002. Her supervisory expertise spans Honours, Master of Philosophy, and PhD candidates in nursing, midwifery, and occupational therapy.
